Notification of a chargé d’affaires of a diplomatic mission (Article 19 of the VCDR)
If an ambassador is going to be absent from their post, the diplomatic mission of the sending State shall notify the Federal Foreign Office (Division 701) of the name of the acting head of mission (chargé d’affaires ad interim).
Notification of an acting head of post (Article 15 of the VCCR)
If the consul general is going to be absent from their post, the diplomatic mission of the sending State shall notify the Federal Foreign Office of the name of the acting head of career consular post.
